Senetor Joseph Mcarthy became powerful in 1950 for having a list of 205 communists working in the state department. Although his accusations were never correct, many people believed him. This alll started to stop when he accused the army of holding commmunists. The Army's lawyer, made many accusations that accusing the military was wrong. This was the downfall of Joseph McCarthy.
